WESLEY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY HISTORY

Company History

Celebrating over 50 years of continuous operation under the same Family ownership.

Charlie Braznell, founded Wesley Construction Company in 1960, in Coral Gables, Florida, and expanded quickly to include offices in Campaign, IL and New Orleans, LA.

Commercial & Institutional construction was the company's primary focus, completing a variety of Industrial, Food Processing, and Warehouse facilities. Military construction came to dominate the South Florida markets during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Company performed work at Nike/Hawk missile sites in the Florida Keys, and Water Treatment Facility in Homestead for the Key West Naval Base/Air Station. During the race for the moon, the Company constructed facilities for General Dynamic's solid rocket facility in Florida City, and facilities at Patrick & Homestead Air Force Bases.

The 1970's brought change as the Company privately developed multi-family projects in South Florida, and the Florida Power & Light headquarters in Miami. The 1974 fuel embargo and sky high interest rates brought change, and the Company again focused upon Commercial construction, completing Office Buildings, Car Dealerships and a Canada Dry Bottling Plant by the end of the decade.

The 1980s began in recession, and the Company concentrated in medical and healthcare markets. Constructing much of Miami Childrens Hospital campus, as well as projects at Baptist, South Miami, Mercy and VA Hospitals into the 1990s.

Although successful with public work, Wesley Construction Company's primary served private clients. Charlie retired in 2000, along with long time associate Oscar Prieto.

Headquartered in Jupiter, Florida, the Company continues to perform into the new millennium using the same original guiding principals.
